Planning the next big one looking at 10 or 12' tank

Getting ready to buy a new house and of course I am beginning the planning for my next big tank. I currently have an 8' 380g. The dimensions I am considering will be either a 120 or 144 (10' or 12') long x 30 wide x 30 tall. My current tank is 36 tall and I hate it. I love the look, but it is a PITA to clean or aquascape. So it would roughly be 550 to 650 gallons or so. Do any of you guys have longer tanks such as this? I am looking for ideas right now and I would like to see how one similar to this would look. If you have one please post up. I appreciate your help. This project is is 6 mos to a year away.

Well if it was me, I'd obviously go with the 12'er. That is, if I had the money.

I can only imagine how hard a 3' deep tank would be to clean. Not looking forward to that with my shark pond.

Good luck!

Does anyone know of a tank mfg that carries a 12'er without it being custom? The biggest I could find was glasscages with a 130x30x30.

Sounds like a home run to me!!!!!! Go for it!

can you wider than 30"? I might go 36-42" wide at that length depending on where the tank is going. The tanks I have seen with a wider base have been intriguing.

I have heard that panes of glass come in approx 130" sizes so anything over that has to be completely custom and gets real expensive. If you can do it I'd def. do the 12'.

i personaly have that glasscages tank that you are speaking of and i love it, anything over 130" is going to be custom, for the fact of 130" is the standard length of glass sheet because i was also looking into longer, and found out that it can be done but for more than double the cost of the 130" tank. good luck you will honestly love the 130" and hey by all means if you have the wallet and time to wait for something custom go for it.

If you're asking me how to spend your money I say go for the 12 footer! I would make it 36" wide too. I have to say though I would be too nervous to have a tank of that size made from glass.
