plants and corals

Is there any sea plant or corals that do not need reef lighting? My wife and I just do factory issued lighting and fake corals. Are we going to have to step into the "true" reefer's realm and get lighting for some plants? I was researching some different plants, that chaeto stuff and some red coraline really helping the nitrates, We were planning to wait for lights when we upgrade. Please say there are some plant or alga that do well with standard fluorecents.

This is kind of a loaded question. "Plant wise" what you are talking about are algae and they are photosynthetic. There are nonphotosynthetic corals like sun corals and some gorgonians but you would need to feed them regularly and some say they are hard to keep. If you are interested in them read up well.
