Ive herd of it being used, and I dont see why it wouldn't work. Then it all depends on what your looking to do. If your plan is to build a rock bridge, Id say no. If you are looking for added stability in your formation, then sure.
I use them to impale a few rock columns to keep them from moving. Works pretty well, I wouldn't use it to support a lot of weight though. Longer pieces (I use white) bend a little bit, which can be good and bad since the torque can be used for extra stability.
you can get driveway markers cheap from home depot. they are made of fiber glass and will support a ton more weight. it might even be cheaper then the hangers because one rod is like 1.50 and its about 3 feet long.
The worry I'd have is strength. If you're stacking heavy rocks, hangars are going to be more likely to bend. They can be implemented with success, but I'd prefer using something a bit more robust. I've had good success with the fiberglass rods.
