I bought a Platax pinnatus.

the info (in books) about this fish is varied.

Some says that it is impossible to make it survive in aquarium, other says that it is possible.

wath is your experience ?

tough fish. Make sure it's eating, and keep a watch for disease- they seem prone. Above all, do NOT house them with animals that will be picky. For example, keep away from surgeons, triggers, anything that will nip at their long flowing fins. They are not good swimmers, and once they start getting picked on, they are usually done. I had one for years and fed it bloodworms, shrimp, form 1 and 2. It died quickly after I introduced a purple tang which picked at its fins- and it was dead a day later.

I'm a little worried that its in a reef please tell me not the case !!!

these fish sre funny they either die quickly or eat everything in sight and grow like mad including nems, corals-even toxic softies. Must admit they look good whilst they are dong it hehe!!!

Yes, as you said the platax has now started to eat my corals.

I had to restart a old 500 liters aquarium and that is his/hers new home.
