plating or encrusting coraline? All the same?

I am very interested in obtaining some plating coraline. The stuff I have seen looks like a monti and I like that it makes the rocks wider and fills space naturally.

That being said is there a difference? is it a species or is it all regular coraline that just happens to be reaching out?

I've had plenty of coraline, but none of it ever plated.

Interesting. After doing some google searching it appears that it can plate like a monti.

Not sure how one would go about acquiring some though.

Hopefully by asking here and hearing from someone who has some. then break off a piece and introduce it to my tank lol.

A few months ago some of my coraline started plating and it is really cool looking. Also unsure if it is a different species but my guess is that it grows differently according to where it is in the tank, just like if a monti cap grows up to reach for more light.

I had a few plates in my last tank I just broke down. It was directly in front of my PH and no where else. I just assumed it was regular corraline that had built up to look like it was plating?

I had some in higher flow that I really liked. I quit dosing Mg and it stopped though.
