Play ground sand?

I went to HD and all they had was play ground sand and sand for mixing cement. That sand was very dark, Has anyone used playground sand before?

It is pretty popular right now. With the demise of Southdown, many reefers are using such sands. My main problem with it is the course size and lack of buffering capability. You may wish to seed it with true LS every few months.

Why you don't go to the beach and get some real ocean sand? Thats what I did. You can legally (check with your local laws) take a 5 gallon bucket each time you go.Just clean it real good.Man I was surprised I had to rinse this Miami sand for about 3hrs before it was clean. Well now after 3 months in the tank is live sand.
