Playing hide and seek

So I got my first anemone gbta about a week ago now and initially it found a nice place up against some rock on the sand bed. The ocellaris found it and began hosting almost right away. It stayed in this location for about 4 days and then it decided to move up the rock work and more towards the back (to my dismay). However, now my clown cannot seem to find it and tends to hang out in the place it was. I mean its about 10" away from its origin spot, but the clown doesn't seem to know where to look. Is this normal? Do I simply need to give the clown more time? Can I "help" him find it?

Thanks gang and happy Monday!!

first off the anemone hosts the clown not the other way around secondly i think your clown has claimed a territory which most clowns tend to do. when the bta moved the clown chose to stay in his "spot" so i bet he knows exactly where the bta is but is reluctant to give up its area to follow the bta.

OK that makes sense that he has found a "spot". Any way to help him rekindle his love for the anemone?

Concerning the question of hosting I felt initially the way you did, but then I began seeing it the other way so I left the safety (and sometimes confusion) of reef central and scoured the big wide ocean of the internet. Very quickly I discovered that they do in fact enjoy a symbiotic (two organisms living together) relationship, that is defined as mutualism (where both benefit). It appears the title "host" belongs to the larger species of the two, which in almost all cases is the anemone. So thank you for correcting me.

you may try rearranging or moving some rocks around only in his "spot" which will force him to move to more familiar ground and hopefully into the anemone
