My input, clownfish over the damsels (personal preference as I hate most damsels and love almost all clownfish). the royal gramma are nice and my last one got along just spiffalicously with my clowns, even though he put on a mean face alot. I've never owned a purple pseudochromis, Anthias, or flame angelfish so can't really give any good input on them. Flame hawkfish are awesome if you know what to expect outta them. I have a 72 G bow front w/ a 20 G high sump. It will be reef with fish, but I am not going to add corals or an anemone until later down the road, but when I fill it up tomorrow it will be live rock. I was thinking about purchasing a Watchman Goby and Pistol Shrimp pair. I love the interaction between the two. It amazes me. I want bright colored fish. Are the Goby and Pistol Shrimp ok to start? If so, how long should I wait until I put them in since my tank will be filled and ready tomorrow? If not, then what should I start with?

You need to read about cycling your tank, learn to take water parameter measurements, learn about clean up crews, and then and only then, think about fish. Slow down, you will be much happier in the long run.

No. They are much too large and would require feeding that you cannot do.

That is good to hear. Yes, a goby shrimp pair would be fine as a starter. Remember, CUC first.

I, personally, love the emerald crabs, but I want to make sure that my reef lives in perfect harmony. So, if I want emerald crabs, what are the best inverts that work well with Emeralds?

I do not favor emerald crabs because they can take fish. I favor various kinds snails and pretty much avoid all crabs. I do like shrimp and fighting conchs. Various cleaner shrimp, even pistol shrimp. But not coral banded shrimp as they too can take fish.

Idreefer, I like a wide variety of snails personally, I also avoid most shrimp (person preference). researcht he differenIt types of snails typically used cause not all snails eat the same food or inhabit the same area's of a tank. I do love the fighting conches that snorlax...er snorvich mentioned

As you may remember, I took the 3 yellow tail Damsels back and picked up 2 Pajama Cardinals. Which by the way are doing really great in my QT.

My CUC of 10 Cerith snails, 5 Nassarius Snails, 2 Fighting Conchs, 2 Skunk Cleaner Shrimp and 10 Blue Leg Hermits are doing really well also.

My question is, will I be alright with the below fish list in regards to my bio-load in a 90g DT and is the order in which they are listed ok for introduction?

I do intend on waiting at least a month in between each introduction as they will be quarantined for 4 weeks anyway!

You should be fine. The fairy wrasse will lose some coloration.

I would definitely NOT do C. scottorum as they are incredibly aggressive especially towards wrasses. Flasher wrasses should be fine.

Hi all,

I bought and moved a complete 90gal system a couple of weeks ago, and made the move with only one fish loss (a six-line who was at least six years old--i think he was just an old fish and couldn't handle the move) and stress damage to a birdsnest and a catspaw. All the other corals and fish are doing well.

I'm writing because I'm looking for some recommendations for our next fish. The current residents are:

A pair of Ocellaris
A yellow tang
A hippo tang
a striped damsel
a few hermits, brittle starfish, and the usual hodge-podge of life in the rock

All the fish are big and healthy. They get along with each other, but the damsel can be a little agressive to the smaller of the clownfish. In fact, I'm thinking about re-aquascaping soon and using the opportunity to remove her. Hmmm...

Anyways, any useful thoughts out there?

Unfortunately a hepatus tang should not be kept in a 90 gallon tank. If you remove the damsel and ideally the hepatus, I would recommend flasher wrasses but they would preclude readding in any lined wrasse.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't have opted for a hippo tang if I were starting from scratch, and I totally get your point (by the way, it's a point that has been made about a billion times on this and other forums). But as I said, these were the fish that the previous owner had selected, and they're all looking healthy and happy. I think part of the reason people have a hard time saying no to tangs in the first place or (when put in a position like mine) letting go of tangs is that they're so friggin' beautiful.

Great recommendation with the flasher wrasse. That's definitely going on my list of desiderata.
