I call this my tabling acro but would like to know what it really is It was very small and brown when i got it about 1.8 years ago and has grown a lot the color is hard to capture and polyps are green and small during the day but white and about an inch on most nights i have had about 15 reefers see it and no one knows what it is so any help is appreciated.

i looked at the coral id and maybe some were close but not sure its driving me crazy. if you have any idea at all please post a name so i can look it up also i will try for a few better pics today a close up of one branch because there is a pattern on the skin that looks cool.

Thanks I have no clue I had a garf and while similar there are some differences it's def. not real popular I haven't seen anything like it in 3 years

I believe Garf's Bonsai is an A. nana and your coral seems to be a nana to me.

the names that looked somewhat similar were anthocercis, appressa, kosurini, or microclados

If you didn't buy it as G.A.R.F. Bonsai, then it is not a Bonsai. It does look like a grown out Valida http://sdmas.com/corals/77.php

i bought it brown as a catalinas pick a healthy coral that has no color. thanks for the info, it is very big and looks great in my opinion, just never knew what it was

i could lol if i can get an id well was looking through and garf bonzai seems so close i found thes thread and saw a grown out one it looks exact with color differences it is under a lot of light and i believe it likes lower light. heres the thread link please any input is appreciated.... http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1921365&page=3

G.A.R.F. is an organization that basically grew and sold that purple and green polyp acro. Now i have about four different acros in my tank and only one of them came from G.A.R.F. To call the others a G.A.R.F Bonsai with out knowing their lineage well to me would be lieing. You can call it what ever you want, but if you sold me that as a G.A.R.F Bonsai, and it's not, i would be very ****ed. My 2c.

Posting on here we can only give you our best guesses, if you want to get an exact ID fine a college or institution that has an electron microscope and a credited marine zoologist. Bring them a piece of the dead skeleton to look at.

Looking at that thread http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1921365&page=3 Only a few of those look like true G.A.R.F Bonsais. The rest are probably some Nana or Valida.

i would never sell someone anything without knowing i would me p*&&^% too lol thats why i am trying to figure it out. Either way i like it, but it is getting big so i have to start fragging or i won't have any room. At our swap i sold it as a purple tabling not a garf. the problem is is everyone puts they're name or spin on them and not just this type

The overall structure, especially the small tubular axial corallites line up with A. valida in my opinion.
