As some know, my blue gigantea died awhile back and now my red haddoni is looking bad. All my parameters are perfect and all my sps and lps are doing great, good flow and pretty good lights.

Figuring it has to be something with water quality, i got all new test kits today and got this:
nitrates-0
phosphates-0
ammonia-0
sal.-1.0255
KH/alk.-6.0/2.10  This was done on a Salifert test and the tube was between 0.64 and 0.62 which comes out to about 6.0/2.10. My KH/alk. always tested a little low but never NEARLY that low!

I'm gonna assume that this is the problem so what should i do?? How can i quickly but safely raise my KH/alk. to an acceptable level???

The haddoni looks pretty bad today so i need to fix this problem pretty quick.

PLEASE help!!!

are you running kalkwasser?

id say big water change and add some aragamilk or baking soda to the WC water.

I just had this happen also.. my alk was always low, well, for a long time and then I started having issues with coraline not being able to propagate.. I used kent SuperBuffer DKH (powder) to get the alk back in check.. 1 teaspoon full in like 8 to 10oz of fresh water into the sump each night until I got to 10dkh. All the while keeping an eye on the pH. It took about a week to get the alk back in check, but there was a noticeable difference after the first dose. I am using B-Ionic to maintain my good ca/alk levels now.. seems to do the trick well, but only to maintain.. you can't add only the alk component to up the alk levels.. just FYI. Keep an eye on you pH.. don't let it go over 8.5 while you're dosing with the superbuffer.

ps: yeah, maybe try the baking soda method also.. much more cost effective than getting the kent stuff.. there are many easy recipies out there.. I guess it's pretty easy to do, but I used the kent stuff with a lot of success.

I don't run kalkwasser or dose anything. My calcium always stays around 440 without dosing anything:confused:

My alk and ph have always been a little low but nothing like this! I got some of the liquid kent pro buffer dkh, it was the only thing i could find anywhere nearby at this time. I started dripping it so hopefully it will get back in check in the next few days.

Hopefully, that was the issue with my haddoni and he isn't past the point of no return and will get happy and healthy!

That should do the trick.. just keep an eye on your pH.. these alk raising substances tend to raise the pH also.. if it starts to go over 8.5 then stop the drip for a little while (12 to 24 hours) and let the tank "settle". and also, when your alk goes up your ca might dip a little.. keep an eye on that level also. best of luck!
