I have a lionfish that has recently developed very cloudy eyes. It came in healthy and was eating well feeding on gut-loaded ghost shrimp. I've had it about 2-3 weeks. The tank it is in (44 pent) is well established with live rock and a deep sand bed. The inverts in the tank (saltwater ghost shrimp for the lion to eat and a small pistol shrimp) are all doing fine.
I've never seen this before. The eyes are very heavily filmed over, with some thick white slime coating on the head. Fins and body are unmarked. I'm thinking a bacterial infection but have never seen this before.
Just put the lion in a bath of methylene blue. Meds I have on hand:
Neomycin Sulfate
Triple Sulfa
Doxycycline Hydrochloride
Nitrofuracin Green
Quinine Sulfate
Formalin
Metronidazole
I may also have some Paraguard and some SeaChem meds.
Can't take a pic right now, I have to spend most of the day at work. If you have any suggestions, please send them asap, and I'll come home over lunch and treat. This is a beautiful fish, I don't want to lose it!
TIA,
Lisa
