Hi All!

I ordered a Dussumieri Tang (Acanthurus Dussumieri) with my LFS. After a few months I received a call that it finally came in, and I got sent a picture of it (as below). Now I know as a juvenile, they are not very colorful as they are as an adult. However, I do not believe that this is Dussumieri Tang. I have read that a Dussumieri Tang has a white tail spine, and a yellow tail band as a juvenile which distinguishes it from other tangs. If I'm wrong please correct me. The LFS persists this is a Dussumieri. Can you please help me ID this tang? Thanks!

Don't know what that is but its not a duss. Mine looked like this when it was a juvi.

That is one beautiful Dussumieri above!

After going back to the LFS and questioning whether it was a Dussumieri, they are very adamant it is. It does like much nicer in person as oppose to the photo, with blue colorations and markings on the face. However, I really agree with everyone here that it is not a Dussumieri.

You would think it would be quite easy to get a Dussumieri here is Australia, considering there is an Australian Dussumieri species, but after a year with orders placed at multiple LFS stores, no such luck so far.

Thanks for all your replies, here is a pic of my tank by the way. It's been up and running for about three years, and is a 2300 Litre (600 gallon) FOWLR
