If sponges are growing excessively its a sign of excess nutrients.
I have the sponge first mentioned in this thread.Its grown a little over the past 2 years and also produced those nodules,I think that might be what their called.But I cant remember.
They might do that to take up stuff leached from other species.I had a blue sponge that appeared to get something from a colony of GSP.When I moved the gsp away from the sponge that nodule or feeding tube died off.
