Please help me out with my zoos

Well about 2.5 months ago I had a sick fish and no qt tank. I was told that melafix was reef safe I am sure you know where this is going, well my first mistake I trusted the fact that this product was reef safe, 2nd mistake was adding this to my reef tank. shortly there after everthing in the tank closed up, The next day the coral was still closed up and not looking good. Soooo, I knew right away this stuff was trouble, so I did about a 35% water change. and everything returned back to normal except for my zoos, They didn't look large and lively.

Well 2 months have gone by and they still look horrid probably look worse. There symptoms are that they are much smaller in size, the disk is really small. The skirt/fingers are almost non existent. My Paly's show the same response. Any recommendations on what I might be able to do to get the skirts and centers back to there original size.... Maybe others have had this issue.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Eric

have you done more water changes since then?.. i would run carbon and do some more water changes to get that stuff out of my tank.. and for future reference get a QT tank and treat anything sick in there..

Gabriel,

I have done biweekly water changes of 15% for the last 2 months, nothing out of the ordinary. I also run carbon non stop. So I believe I have all that crap out of the tank, it has quite a pungent odor, and the odor is long gone. Unfortuanetly the zoos are not any better.

Yeah I guess I must get slapped in the face before I learn my lesson... Well QT tank is up and running....

any ideas what I might try.

Thanks
Eric

I agree with Bebo, lots of water changes and more precaution next time.

If you can frag the corals and give some to a friend with a healthy reef tank, do it. This way if all of yours die, you may be able to get them back.;)

I just tried Boyd's Chemipure which is a carbon filtration and it made my water lose that haze look within a day and I think my zoa's are opening larger as well so you may want to try it. My buddy recommeded it to me after he started using it.

I think it takes out a lot of the harsh things in the water. I'm sure others here have used it and may chime in.

I would definetely frag it to make sure you have better odds of getting a heathly specimen.

Good luck!
