Please help me with skimmer bypass

Hi All, I really need opinions on this. I want this skimmer pic below, BUT I don't have a sump,. What I do have is a 15G refugium barebottom that the skimmer can sit in. I don't see the point of skimmer working in fuge so I just want it to sit in it and then with PVC and tubing send both intake and out through the top of display. Can this be done. Opinions on what you would do. I will send pic of gravity fed fuge as well. Thanks guy

So as yopu can see I have a gravity fed Fuge. I have small pump in display that directs water into fuge and then gravity fed back to display via bulkhead hole. I want to keep that the same and just sit skimmer in fuge water but have both intake and out directly in display to get the best benefit. Thanks
