please help skimmer/fuge??

ok so my skimmer sits in the skimmer compartment but the skimmer has a gate valve on it and the gate valve sits low on the skimmer and doesnt go above the first baffle is this the way its supposed to be so basically the skimmer will be pumping water into the skimmer compartment is this fine???

Yes that is fine. Most skimmers operate this way.

just dont put the output off the gate against the wall of the sump. Give it room or it will be hard to dial in.
