Maybe the reducer on the pump came off. Happened to me with a sicce 2500.

Well, it turns out that the impeller is damaged and the motor well is scratched up too.
So, I had to order a new pump. :-/

how could that happen if all you did was run it in vinegar bath?

The vinegar bath didn't cause the issue.
I just think after all the calcium build up and gunk was removed by the vinegar bath, all of the scratches on the impeller magnet and motor well were exposed, causing it to fail.
I couldn't get it running after that no matter what i did.
