About an hour ago, I noticed this mucus/debris hanging on the shell of my crocea. It was about a 1/4 inch from the opening on the outside. I didn't think it was anything to worry about, because I figured it was debris that got caught on a ridge. As I looked closer, I saw a few tiny tentacles/antennae or whatever on the clam. Then I realized this bump on the ridge that had 2 openings. This bump was actually shaped like a cow/rhino/powder horn. It was difficult to see because of the ridges & pink calc algae. Both sides has a concealed cover. It was about a little over a 1/4 inch. I used some dental tools & bone scissors & spent 20 minutes breaking it off the shell. I never could find the creature. It had left what appears to be a membrane of the inside of the clam uncovered. NO PICS since I destroyed it ASAP trying to locate creature. I guess it either "took off running" or most likely, borrowed in the clam??????? Any clue?
Advice please!
