OK, a little info about my tank. I have a 55gal tank and a 24gal fuge. The tank and fuge have been setup for over 4 months now.

Currently, I have (1) maroon clown, (5) Barlett Anthias, (1) Magenta Dottyback, (1) Blue Damsel, (2) cleaner shrimp, (2) emeral crab, (10) hermit crab, (4) turbo snail.

As far as coral goes, I have pulsing xiena, yellow polpys, brain, duncan, clove, gonipora, maximus clam, dandrophilia, motipora danae, purple birdnest, neon green frogspwan.

Everything is doing really well for atleast the past month.

I have been using filtered ocean water for (10%) water changes every week. (Purchased from my lfs). I have recently purchased a ro/di unit and have decided to make my own saltwater for weekly changes.

I have mixed the water for 24hrs and have tested ppt and salinity before making the changes.

I changed the 10% of water on 1/12/08. Everything have seem fine until I came home today.

(1) of my barlett anthias just died. I have taken him out of the tank and see what seems to be wrong. No sign of anything.

Tested my water and the result is:
PH-8.2
Nitrate- 0
Nitrite- 0
Cal- 380
Alk- 7
Phosphate- 0
Ammonia- 0
34ppt
Salinity- 1.026

Please advise!!

Anything else die in the tank? How do the corals look? If something is off w/ your water parameters, a lot of times your corals will look like crap. Is there only one anthias or are there others?

I have total of 5 anthias and only (1) of them have died.

My corals all looks good. Everything is opened and is beautiful.

All other fishes are all ok.

Any thoughts?

They're pretty aggressive at least towards each other. I have 4 in a 120 and they chase a bit but take territories. Five may have been too many in a 55.

I would only start to worry if other critters in the tank start to die. I agree w/ the others, anthias do best in pairs and its possible they offed the odd ball :(

So you guys think about 1 month being together in a tank. The remaining 4 anthias decided they didn't like the (1) and only one and have taken his life?

I am not questioning you guys. Just i want to make sure that is the case. I just don't wanna see my tank going down slowly without a cause!

Thanks again!

The LFS has six Bartlett's in a 120... they had seven, but one died for unapparent reasons. Sometimes life is random.
