Hey guys I'm starting to worry about my Angel fish, if not all my fish

just brief history
my tank is 8 months old added fish 6 months ago run it with 2 clowns, added damsel in a few days and tang and angel after a week
My water parameters are always prestige weekly water change nutral feeding
amm 0
nitrite 0
nitrate .2
PH 8.2
I had an ich before but within a week it was cured ( no spot ever since ) just feeding garlic and vitamins

I haven't added any fish in my system the pass stuff i added are Xenia and mudrooms

2 weeks ago i started at my tank for 15 mins while reading notice that my fish keeps going up and down and i ignore it saw it the next day and every other second day, and I rarely watch my fish for long but it seems as if they are all breeding heavily i check my parameters always the same

I been reading about velvet and flukes but it cant be it My fish does not shake ( except the clown fish but its just blowing sand) no discoloration (just clown fish might be the age) over all my fish seems extremely happy and fat

in this video about 1 20min to 1 30 min you could see the angel breathing, does is look like it is? ignore my weird tang fish who likes to eat in other fish butt.

What I'm observing is a fish fight: the tang is harassing the angel. I didn't spot any wounds---yet---but the tang seems constantly on the angel's case. I'm not expert enough with tangs even to id the species, but it may be that the tang feels his tank is too small, and he wants that angel out. You would probably be better off trading the tang in for, say, a kole or other quieter tang.

scopas tang, quite an agressive fish showing agression towards the goldflake angel.this will escolate i am afraid

Yes scopas tang and flag fin angel I could grantee that they are not figthing they the tang is just trying to eat the angels poop ( i know its wierd to say but they chase each other when the angel is pooping then once the poop is long enough the tang eats it )

you guys have no imput for the fish gasping for air?

I stand by my statement, and agree with Mikk. If you want to ask someone else I know who really knows tangs, PM BrianD---he's quite knowledgeable in that species.

no, that tang is chasing the angel. See how its keeping itself fairly level with the angel, its fins flared and nipping at it? that probably isnt going to go away, with the tang being a fairly sizable adult from what I can tell.

as for the 'gasping for air' I assume you mean the angel biting at the surface? two things I can think of- one, the angel if stressed because its being pester by the tang, and the tank is too small/open for it to find releif; two, the angel is hungry and thought it saw food up there. IMO, the poor fish just looks stressed from the tang, and everyone looks otherwise healthy.

When I saw aggression in my FW tanks, rearranging the aquascaping would sometimes work to calm a territorial fish... it was similar to the concept of introducing the most territorial fish last to a tank, and if you got lucky, the fish that were "fighting" would choose opposite corners of the tank.. In other cases it didn't help enough, and someone had to find a new home. Can anyone speak to whether or not this is feasible in a SW tank? I realize that with a heavily aquascaped tank, this is tough or impossible, and that its also not always the best idea to screw with an established sand-bed and such...but with a FOWLR tank, would this be an option?

hey guys thanks for the reply, but im afraid it is not aggression, this fish have been together since juvenile and never show aggression towards each other. like i sed the tang is just eating the Sailfins Poop (odd) heres a 2 min video of them together.

I would be upgrading to a 150G someday maybe once both or 1 hit the 6 1/2" mark

If you don't think it's aggression, then it would be something else. I hesitate to say this, since I don't want to be labelled as Chicken Little of the sky is falling fame, but if you had Ich and did nothing other than garlic and viatmins, then you still have Ich in the tank, posssibly unseen in the gills.

could garantee you it's some sort of illness but I'm sure it is not itch since no matter what it us present in ur tank but my fish seems to me dare I say it develope immunity (I know I know) I just can't get my head into the gasping for air and as some1agreed thr my fish seems healty it migth just be a normal behaviour

Oh Boy!!!! I think you need to read up a little on Crypt.....It is not always present in a tank. It has to be introduced. My guess is what someone else posted earlier. The crypt is still present just that you can't see it. When something stresses out the tank it will be back trust me.

The members originally gave a pretty goog assessment of your problem, stress from aggression. It doesn't matter how long two fish are together, when space becomes limited, aggressive species will begin to assert themselves. In not accepting this assessment, you are heading in the wrong direction. From what I can see, the fish look healthy. There are no cycts, no srcaping against things, no film over the eyes, etc. Just rapid respiration. Stress!

Sorry to change the subject but are those mangroves growing out of the rocks?

WhAt els RBu. And the mangroves are rooting on the rocks I Want the natural look so any ideas I should do beside observing

I really like the mangroves. As to your problem... Rapid respiration is a symptom of many illnesses as well as just plain old stress. In order to attribute it to illness you should look for other symptoms. As I can't see any, I'd chalk it up to stress. That being said, since I have no other information othe than the video, I'd blame the Tang. One or the other needs to go. Sorry.

I understand thank you, but all my fish to be breathing rapidly not just the angel I migth need a bigger tank sooner than I though

If you do get a bigger tank, take that opportunity to rid yourself of the Ich. Hit two causes of rapid breathing with one stone: relieve stress, remove Ich. That's how I ended up with my 150  .

Aggression can develop as this fish grow in size. Zebrasoma species of tangs are quiet aggressive, certainly when not inhabited in a large enough system. I havent read the whole thread so i missed how big your tank is but i fear if you wait till even one of these fish reach 6"+ then the angel will in all probability be dead. Upgrade to the 150 sooner than later and add the angel first. If this is not an option, then maybe think about moving one of the fish on..
