Can someone please help identify this white stuff on my clown fish ?

This is one of 2 clowns in my tank this guy's had problems since the second day I've had him and he's going on a month now.

First problem I saw on him when I got him was a white cotton type white fluffy thing near his tail fin but on his body. Then half his tail went missing everything went back to normal, white fluffy went away, then tail grew back. But now he has this white suff near hiS gill. Can anyone please help identify this and help treat it?

if it's white and near his gills, then chances are it's ich. If you have coral or inverts, there isn't much you can do except quarantine the clownfish so it can get rid of the ich on its own or die.

A better picture would be helpful. It doesn't sound like ick. Sounds more like some kind of rot from a bacterial infection. But again, without a good picture there's no way to tell.

Ethier way quarantine the clown ASAP. Can't tell from the pic and your discription, could be marine fungus. If it is, treat with something like Primafix.

I had a clown that looked similar, I treated with formalin in qt and he's still going strong 3 years later.

Here's another picture. The best I can get. It looks like a white film but only know one spot. From the first picture it looks like his skin is raused but this picture you only see a white film I have him in qt but not sure what to treat him with...please help

White film on a clownfish always makes me nervous about brooklynella. I would do a formalin dip to start and then probably antibiotics in qt n

Ok so now here's my situation. I can be 100% sure that my dottyback has ich. It's mild and just noticed it today. I want to put him in qt but I have the clowns in it. Can I put them in together and treat with cupramine??

Please advise

Is the dottyback the only fish in the
Main tank? Or are there other fish as well? No reason in treating just the one. Yes you could put the dottyback in qt with the clowns but risk infecting them with ick if they don't have it on top of whatever they are currently sick with. That also goes the other way around too, infecting the dottyback with whatever the clowns have. So it depends on if that's a risk you want to take

What an odd response.... with such a definite answer on such a blurry picture

Doesn't look like ich. If it has stringy poop, it's brooklynella. And if that's the case, if it's still alive, you have to do a formalin dip IMMEDIATELY. That's the only hope. 45 minutes. Dip on days 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10.
