Please help...would this be ok?

I have a 30 gallon tank...(you can see my info on the bottom) and want to get this snowflake eel our local pet store has. Would this work for a 30 gallon (short term, 1year) and with my hermit crabs and such...its small.

Hi...

We purchased a snowflake eel for our 55 Gallon tank. We figured he'd have plenty of room in there since he doesn't swim around much and just hides out under the rocks. That was about 14 months ago. Let me tell you....he is getting huge. The problem we are having is not necessarily his size in relation to the tank....but the amount of "output" he gives off. We have been battling high nitrates in that tank for awhile now. We were told it's because even though we only have 2 relatively "big" fish in that tank (our wrasse is very big too).....these guys.......well.......poop alot and put alot of icky stuff back into the water.

Personally...looking at our eel now....I think 30 is a little too small. He will grow quickly.

He hasn't gone after any of our hermits or snails....but I heard not to put shrimp in there.

I think we are looking at a bigger tank for them soon.
