Please help

I have a bunch of soft corals and LPS in my tank. I just recently added a green bubble anemone. The anemone will not grab onto a rock even if I hold it there. Right now it's sitting on the sand bed. I am very worried that it's going to start roaming through the night and sting all my other corals. What should I do? Please help with some suggestions.

Can you move the corals to another tank till he gets settled? You could sit up all night and watch. You can also point a powerhead over the corals and he is less likely to stop there.

Can't move the corals to a different tank. The powerheads are already pointing near the corals. I guess the only option is to watch him until I pass out. Thanks.

i would quarter it off with a couple of pieces of live rock so it is somewhat boxed in and cant be "blown" away and it will plant itself . be advised they are capable of moving anywhere in the tank that they want to . one reason for needing to understand husbandry before purchase . also in a pinch you can use a pvc union to put it into and it may stay there . overall they will go where they want so if you are scared of it killing inhabitants then i would return it to your lfs asap . a tupperware dish also could be used to contain it with a few pieces of rubble in it .

well it will somewhat plow the sand aside and attach to the floor .

Update:

The bubble anemone was drip acclimated for 2 hours then placed in the tank about an hour ago. It hasn't attached it's foot to the sand bed yet but it is still in the same spot in the sand bed.

One thing to watch out for if it isn't secured with its foot is powerheads. They can easily drift into one and get sucked in.

reduce the flow a little bit on your power head by blocking the inlet so that it does not blow around and then place a piece of rock on the sand bed right next to it. If it likes that spot, it will attach and stay there

I would seriously reconsider a nem in a 40 gal with corals, in my opinion small tanks should have one or the other.

I agree with the mutt^^^ a 40 is a small tank for bubble by itself - I would pick one or the other as well - corals would be easier in a tank that size

I agree with the nem will get too big for that tank. My understanding is that they like an overhang to attach their foot to (could be wrong), then will reach out and up to get light. Good luck either way

Agree that a 40 might be a little small, but here is a thought. Build a island on one side out of LR. Section it off somehow, eggcrate would be good here, and place your nem in there by itself with the island. Leave the powerheads on to let him get used to the flow so he doesn't move later and cover them so he can't get sucked in. Once it attaches you can remove the section and should be good. Leave the island by itself and don't put any LR next to it.
From what I understand they like to bury their foot in the LR crevices and not really on sand. That is how I did it in my 55 and they haven't moved since day one. Good luck.

you need to give it a rock of its own in a place it might like to roost and it will attach. me id corner the anenome and put the rock against it and it will attach. now it may climb over and let go again but it may very well stay put
