I have 4 fish right now named Nemo, Monarch, Cooper and Herbert.
All my fish are sick, one just died this morning because of a fungus growth, and The others caught his disease, And cooper has it really bad, the growths are all over him. Aside from having a fungus growth, my other fish (except Nemo) have fin rot. For Monarch and Cooper the tail rot is pretty bad. How do I know if they are getting better? How can I help them? Finally, I have Nemo, he has the fungus and I'm pretty sure he is overweight. Also he used to be a all orange fish, but now he's at least half white, the white is spreading across his body and I'm really worried. I know I sound like a terrible fish owner, but I've never had any experience with fish before. One night my dad came home with some fish as a surprise for my little brother, so I didn't really have much time to prepare. I have no idea how old the fish are. I have a 30 gallon tank, is it a possibility they are over crowded? any help is greatly appreciated.

1. What kind of fish are they?
2. Have you tried to medicate them?
3. What are your tank water parameters?

Also! Pictures REALLY help.

This will give other people in this thread more information to help you.

Cooper, Monarch, and Herbert are faintails, (I think) And Nemo Is a common. I'm giving them medications but I want to know if there is anything else I should be doing. The pH is about 7.2/7.4 there is no ammonia, and the temp is around 76 f. I'll try to do pics later when I have someone to help me.

Other than telling us your fish's names and telling us they are sick, we have no idea what's going on. We need a LOT more info...

Tank size, amount of live rock and substrate
All water parameters...ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, salinity, temp.
How old is the tank
How long have you had the fish
Did you quarantine the fish before placing them in the display tank
What kind of fish are they

I'm assuming you have fantail goldfish and a common gold fish from what you are saying.

Pull the carbon out of your filter and go to the store. Buy some fish medicine called melafix that is for fungal diseases which will treat the fungus which should be fluffly looking things like clouds. To treat the finrot you will need to use Melafix also that is for bacteria. This stuff has a strong odor, do not smell it or leave it around for kids to drink. Follow the instructions accordingly on the bottle.

Depending on how bad the infection is and how fast you apply the treatment will determine the survival of your fish. If I could see a picture of them I could tell you. I have been raising goldfish for 10 years before getting into the saltwater hobby =)

Your fish probably have fungal and bacterial infections and something called dropsy for your so called fat one.

What you need to do:

- Buy "Melafix" Fungal and Bacterial you can get at walmart.
- Pull out the carbon in your filter if you have one. These are black looking rocks that can be in your filter pads, hooked to your underwater gravels or hooked to your airstones (If you don't know what that is, you can still treat them even with the carbon in).
- Turn off your lights so your fish are not too active
- Follow the instructions on the bottles and pour accordingly.
- If you have a heater, bring the temperature up to 80-82 degrees
- If your fish want to eat, feed them a little only for the next 7 days. Do not overfeed them.
-Change 2% of your water everyday. Too much water change can shock your very stressed fish and kill them.

Fin rot takes a few weeks to heal. When you no longer see blood or tissue falling off the fins that means the fish are getting better even if his fins are very short now. They will start to grow back a little over time. Stop treating when you see this. This can usually be seen in around 7-14 days.

The fungus should just fall off or disappear.

You will know your fish are happy when they want to eat every 30 minutes you are around them.

Yes this is a saltwater forum. However, You can follow what I told you to save your fish.

If you need specific information, you can try kokosgoldfish forums, they have individuals there that are also very knowledgeable in goldfish.

I'll try to help as much as I can.
