Red Fish

New member
I got this rock with a bunch of frags on it.

One colony was pretty much melted when it arrived, but I figured that it had just gotten damaged during shipping.

This second colony hasn't opened but didn't look too bad and I was just going to give it time to get acclimated to my tank/lights.

Now it doesn't look good at all and I am worried I have brought something into my tank that is going to kill all the other colonies on the new rock and then spread in my tank.

Any thoughts? Am I just being overly paranoid?

Thanks!!

did you start it from the bottom then slowly moved them up as time goes on?

Looks like from the pic that they are directly under the light source

They were down at the bottom and looking unhappy there. I moved them up yesterday because I wanted to make sure my cleaner shrimp were not walking on them. They are higher than I would like but this position has the advantage of being in my clowns territory and they keep everything else away.

Since they were unhappy before I don't think that light is the problem with the one colony. However it is a good thought for keeping the others happy. I'll dim that light.

yes you can ramp down the light if you can then slowly adjust it up in increments as time goes so the corals have time to adjust to the light.
