I have a small hammer coral and it has been doing great for the past 2 weeks since I got it. When I got home from work today the middle of the hammer appeared to be inflated and a brownish color. Now it has a decent size brown area int he middle and has stringy mesh or something flowing out of it. What is happening and is there any way I can save the coral. Parameters have not changed. Lighting schedule has not changed. New to reefing and i have no idea what happened within the last 10 hrs for this to happen.

Thanks!

Thanks Zee, I did and my night time pills had me about knocked out. Good catch and thank you again and Good night.

It has not opened since the 4th. Has good color beside where the brown stuff was coming from. Looks like there is a hole almost in the middle where the brown stuff was coming from. The poop/potential bacteria is not showing anymore, so I hvae no idea whats happening.

Hard to tell from the pic, but I don't think its brown jelly.

Could have been pooping(brown stringy stuff), or expelling zooxanthellae, becuase the light was too much for it. The bubble usually occurs when its getting ready to split(grow). Is the bubble right where it's mouth used to be?

Typical splitting or reproduction(not even sure if it can be called that?) happens when the mouth fuses together, a bubble forms, then said mouth will spit into 2.
