I got a piece of blue xenia in a trade and it has become unattached! It is very small when closed, about 1/8"-1/4" I am afraid it will disappear in the current. Can I glue the base of it to a rock or will this hurt it? Even in a small container with rubble on the bottom it is tumbling around. TIA

Jordan, I have superglued Xenia in the past but its hit and miss, and a piece that small I wouldn't risk it...a bigger colony yes....The tried and true rock and rubberband method may work... I might suggest thread and sew that bad boy around the rock. A couple of days it should afix itself and you can control the tension around it with the thread compared to a band, which is usually too loose or too tight.

That is a big predicament for a tiny lil thing ;) You can try a dab of superglue but alot of people complain about it sliming off the glue. If you have any fishing line wrap it around its base and a lil rock a couple times, although it will be difficult, but its the only thing I can think of especially seeing how the toothpick trick is out the door on this one, being so small. Briedal veil would work, but it would eventually grow into it, and that would be a very big pain also.

It's so awfully small, it'll be hard to keep an eye on. You might need a closed container with holes, temporarily or a no flow area just for it to slowly attach first.

I'd go for the rubber banding method if it is big enough to band. If the rubber band is too loose though, it'll float away...

Thanks for the quick help guys! It is way too small to rubberband but I tied it down on a rock with some thread (I did this after only seeing the first reply). It is tided down and in a small topless container filled with rubble at the bottom of my tank. I just hope it's still there in the morning.

Ahh that superglue in the video looks familliar Karl......Rite Aid thinks I have a major glue sniffing problem when I buy six or more at a time.....the funny thing is that they hardly believe me when I tell them what it is all for!!!!

I should have bought a case a long time ago.
