So i didn't read the instruction on the ph buffer and instead of dissolving it with water and then adding it to the tank, I added the buffer directly to the tank. And some of the buffer landed on top of my hammer head coral and cost a lot of damage to it. It made burn hoes to my hammer head bubbles.
What should i do??? please help with my stupidity...

i dont think there is anything you can do for the coral at this point. if its not burnt too badly it should recover.

be careful when using PH buffers because the effect is only temporary and they will drive up your Alk, so be sure to keep an eye on Alk if you continue to use it

the damage was pretty bad. It still has some heads out on the sides but the whole middle part of the coral are out.

I would be sure that the coral is in an area that receives good water flow. Not directly on it, but an area that the water is moving, this may help it heal by keeping any dead or decaying material away from the healthy parts.

At this point I think I would leave it alone as it's stressed enough. Good flow will help remove any buffer that may still be stuck along with any dead material. Can you take a picture of it?

The other thing I would recommend if at all possible, pour your buffer's into the sump area after the Skimmer feed. Either way I would try to find another way of putting the buffer's in the system other than the Display tank. IMO

If your PH isn't a constant issue you could add the buffer to water for water changes and raise the PH in a slow manner. Avoiding rapid changes is always best, even if you are correcting a problem
