looks like ick, either take him out and put in a qt with copper treatment or feed with some garlic in the display, but dont put copper in the display

does not look like ich. Need better pics and some background info.

When did you get the clown? How long has it been in your tank? When did these spots show up? When was the last time you added a fish to the system?

I assume you did not QT.

usually when you put something in qt its for a week or 2, you could put it in a bucket but i dont think it would be the best for it, im sure someone else that knows more about what it is would be able to help more than me, so hang in there

I didn't think it was ich either. There are no white spots. I've had the clown for over two weeks in the tank. I noticed the eye today. It was fine last night. The person before me had them in his tank about 7-9 months.

Amyloodinium and Brooklynella are two that are really bad and common with clowns, though this doesn't look like either. Try to get some better pics. I know clowns wiggle all the time so that can be difficult but I would def try.

may be "popeye"?

Probably some abrasion to the eye and it does have "popeye".

Is that something hanging out of its butt?

I would go ahead and set up a 10g QT. A bucket is not acceptable. You will need a hob filter and very small heater.

it looks like some kind of fungus on its fins, my clown had it for a while until it went away, just keep him fed, on another note he does have popeye, you can treat both, fungus and popeye with antibiotics, just get him out and into a hospital tank, good luck

sana

Is it just one eye or both? It looks like that it could be an injury to the eye where it ran into to something or a scratch maybe. This happened to a wrasse that I have. If that's what it is then good water conditions and time is all it needs.

Can I put the clown in a bucket?

No, it will die overnight. You could put it in a bucket with an air stone and a very small heater but ammonia will become lethal very fast. A 10g tank and hob filter is cheap at walmart. Without a pre set up QT ammonia will set in quick so you will need to do 50% water changes daily.
