Hello all! I need help IDing these new creatures in my tank. My reef tank is relatively new (~2 weeks old), and is still cycling. I have liverock in it that came from a friend's tank. I recently (within the last week) noticed an emergence of some snail-like creatures but I cannot for the life of me identify them! They range from 3mm - 10mm in size, they have a shell that looks like half of a clam, and they have two antennae.

I also have noticed some other very, very tiny snails (about 1mm-2mm in diameter) which are starting to emerge from the liverock. They have a very different shell which is spiralled and purpleish colored. It seems like a Trochus snail. I will have to wait for them to get bigger to take pictures because my camera will not focus on such small critters.

Could someone please ID the snails in the pictures? My friend and I would like to know! (my guess.....baby nerite snails)

Thank you!

Great! Thanks all! It appears that they are hardy procreators, so I will have to weed them out occasionally. It appears as if they are "cleaning" the coraline algae right off of my rocks! We can't have that!

Please explain. What other things? I appologize for my ignorance in advance. Again, I have only had this tank for a little over 2 weeks thus I am new to the hobby!

Their numbers will go up and down with the food available to them. They won't harm your coralline.
