my zoas have disappearing and I read that sunrise snails will eat zoas.
Is this a snail I should be worried about?

It's actually a small turbinid, either a Collonista or Homalopoma species. They are algae eaters, and won't bother your zoa's.

Cheers,

Don

I am definitely no expert but it looks like a collinista to me. have one in my tank and they are quite small, mine is only about a 1/4", if that.

from the pics i've seen of the sunrise snails the brown/tan bands on their shell have a radial pattern, reminiscent of sun rays or a rising sun....

Sundial snails look as though they have a small drill bit where one would expect to see the snail's body to be. It is really distinctive. And they tend to "sit" on a flat surface with the the beginning of the shell's spiral positioned on top, unlike the snail you showed, which sits with the spiral pointed to the side. And the shell sort of looks like two pieces of twine where twisted together first before it was coiled into the spiral shape. This is all me going from memory (and I think that it is all true), but the main point is, they have a really distinctive look about them.
