Please ID worm, Might be bristle?

Hey every one, looked through 6 pages in the "Other Invertebrates" forum and couldn't find this guy, Im not sure if it is a bristle worm or not, if anyone could please ID I would be thankful, I found him in my nano, just want to make sure he is reef safe. video is in HD

Im thinking its a type of eunicid worm. I would get it out.

Don't see any tentacles on the face. Looks like a bristleworm.

It's not a regular bristleworm: I kept looking to see his head, but that never got a closeup. He's certainly longer for his girth than most bristleworms, and I'm not visually convinced those are regular bristle-tufts. I'd like to see Leslie H chime in on this one. I'm curious.

its very fast, faster than any bristle worm i have seen.

I believe I have the same worm in my new tank. Approximately 8" ~ 10" long, 3/8" width, rectangular cross section. Very fast retraction when spooked. Pinkish coloration. Generally only seen at dusk & dawn.

During one sighting, we noticed a white spot on the head, but that wasn't observed today, when we saw the whole worm move across the tank this morning.

My best guess up front is that it's a Eurythoe type fireworm and will be harmless as my tank grows.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is harmless and I can keep it in the tank for diversity.

considering the lack of head appendages, the shape & size of the dorsal cirri along the sides, and the color I'd say Oenone fulgida, the mollusc eater. Better get it out if you have clams or snails you want to keep.

I agree with this. Nasty little or big buggers. If you have one I can assure you there are more of them.

unless you have a 6 hp shop vac on the end of that cup, and are ready with the on switch when he sticks his head inside.........no I do not think you can catch him that way




the way I have removed various bad worms is to see them go into a rock and remove the rock to catch them.
