I bought a tiny frag from My lfs a couple of months ago and it has quadrupled in size at first I thought it was xenia but now I am having second thoughts. They are nothing like the xenia i had before.
Can any one help me ID this?

no not finger leather. Kenya tree for sure. Grows very very fast (i'd say faster than xenia in my experience). Some people think its ugly, but i think its pretty cool when you get a whole forest of them goin on.

just do a google image search for kenya tree and you'll pull up hundreds of pictures of that same coral

They reproduce by sending off buds into the water column. I have babies growing all over my tank. I pulled a few off of the bottom of a clam 3-4 feet away from where the initial two Kenyas were placed in the tank.

I agree. Too often the more common and easily kept corals are "dismissed" because they are as such...easy. Get a little blue and purple supplementation on them and they can be quite stunning.

Thanks everyone, what really threw me off was when I first put the frag in to the tank the polyps were pulsing/pumping .
I did not know kenya trees did that!
