Did you just get him? I love the spacing in his pattern. If he just retracted when you took the pic, I'd say he's fine.
 
Unarce - Samurai Champloo...I just got him, but he has more or less been like that the whole night. I think maximas don't expand fully in their first day due to shipping stress. If he continues to be like this, then i'll be very very upset...

I see. Larger clams usually have a harder time adapting. He's not gaping, so that's a good sign. Please keep us updated;)
 
harder time adapting? i never knew that! he is a good 5.5 inches big! how long will it take for him to adapt?
 
Generally, young and adult Tridacnids have a harder time dealing with shipping and acclimating to tanks conditions if wild caught.

5.5" is a good, average size. It seemed a lot bigger than that. If you don't mind my asking, where'd this guy come from? Poor thing may have been in holding tanks and transport for awhile. Might explain why there's a lack of white shell growth.
