So I have a lyertail Anthia that needs to be fed very frequently. He's gotten a little skinnier and would love to fatten him up. anyone have suggestions on the best auto feeder they have seen/used?

If you feed pellets +1 on the Eheim Everyday feeder. I set it up over a year ago to feed my aquarium when I was on vacation for 10 days. I liked it so much, I never took it down, it is the only way I feed now. The only thing I would recomend doing is taping the gate that dispensese the food in place so it cannot open any farther than you have it set.

how long have you had your lyretail? My lyretail has been in my tank for about 8 months now, and he gets by with feedings twice a day (although he'll always take more). When I first got him, I was rigorous with feeding him, multiple times a day, but once they get fattened up and used to pellet diet that you feed them (or whatever staple you choose) they do fine twice a day, and maybe extra generous on the weekends.

I made an acrylic holder for mine with a feeding tube that extends down below the waterline so the food becomes saturated and sinks rather than float on the surface and get sucked into the overflow.

I use the eheim with spectrum pellets and a feeding ring. Been using the same battery for over a year :) (maybe I better change it)

wow thanks for the suggestions everyone! I've had ny lyertail for about 2 months. He isnt skinnier than before just want to fatten him up. i guess ill be looking into ordering the eheim!

I even use it for feeding my aquatic turtle and it works awesome. They're basically bulletproof too; my cats have knocked it into his tank almost a dozen times, and each time I removed the batteries and left the case open to air dry for a day, put it back together and it works like a charm.

I had an Eheim and loved it. Sadly I put it in a box that was on the floor and my dad's puppy chewed on it because she was trying to get to the fish food inside and ruined it in the process. Eventually I'll get another Eheim.

Eheim to, you can use a piece of PVC pipe under the feeder to avoid floating food. But i solve that problem using sinking pellets.

Holy crap that is amazing. If you made another I'd buy it. I have a similar rimless tank and I'm in South OC.
