I am seriously considering a 40 breeder for my next tank project, I would love to see some tank setups and tanks for ideas and to get a feeling of what they can contian. Please post pics of your 40's or if you think I should try another size tank, show me why.

Thanks!!

Very nice size for a reef tank. Sorry, no pics. Just wanted to comment that it works nicely. The only thing it lacks is a little height for when your corals grow out. Excellent for a softie and LPS tank though.

I kind of agree with Dan. I wanted height and depth. Used a 37 gal column which is 20x18x24, basically a 20in cut off of a 90.

You mean 28" off of a 90g. A 90g is 48"x18"x24".

Nice tank!

Dan
Don't confuse me. :D My tank is like a 90 except it's 20in wide. Could say like you, take 28in off 90 and throw it away or say I'm USING a 20 in section. God, I think I'm having an anurism!

Oh yeah, my 90g is like a 90g with 0" cut off. :D

Boy, your thread got off track fast. I'll help you a bit. I think the 40 is a great size, but I would probably go with the 50 breeder for just that little bit of extra height, if I were to do it over again.

I would go with the extra height of the 50 breeder. Like fambrough said the little extra height gives you more room to grow out. No pics. of mine, dont have any digital ones.

heres' a horrible pic of my 40 breeder. I had just redone ALL of the rock about 20 minutes beforehand, so not only is it very cloudy right then, but also nothing is open :) The yellow fiji leather looks great when its open and is about double the size in this pic when its open.

I disagree with the extra height of a 50b. That only makes it harder to light. Well if you got MH or t5's then i guess not, but if you're stuck w/pc's like me, it makes a big difference :)
