Does anyone want a rock covered in encrusting gorgonian?
I initially got a few rocks of it from a neighbor a while back, and thought it would be cool to cut up pieces and distribute it throughout the tank. Well, it took off and covered everything! I'm going to keep one rock of it for myself, but the rest needs to go. If nobody wants any, I'm pitching the rocks. I tried to remove it from a few rocks, but it was taking me hours and just isn't worth it.
For those that don't know, encrusting gorgonians are similar to green start polyps. It grows on a mat, which is more pink than puple like GSP. The polyps are also a brown color, rather than green. When they're open, it looks really neat like a carpet covered rock. They spread faster than anything I've experienced, and will take over anything in their path (I've seen them grow over stalks of xenia, mushrooms, zoos, GSP, sponges, and bubble algae). They seem to prefer good water flow and strong lighting, but don't need any feeding other than light. If you do take any, I suggest putting the rock by itself in the sand so the gorgonian doesn't have a chance to grow onto nearby rocks.
Let me know if you would like any for free. I can give you pictures of the rocks if you want.
