Please take it before I pitch it.

Does anyone want a rock covered in encrusting gorgonian?

I initially got a few rocks of it from a neighbor a while back, and thought it would be cool to cut up pieces and distribute it throughout the tank. Well, it took off and covered everything! I'm going to keep one rock of it for myself, but the rest needs to go. If nobody wants any, I'm pitching the rocks. I tried to remove it from a few rocks, but it was taking me hours and just isn't worth it.

For those that don't know, encrusting gorgonians are similar to green start polyps. It grows on a mat, which is more pink than puple like GSP. The polyps are also a brown color, rather than green. When they're open, it looks really neat like a carpet covered rock. They spread faster than anything I've experienced, and will take over anything in their path (I've seen them grow over stalks of xenia, mushrooms, zoos, GSP, sponges, and bubble algae). They seem to prefer good water flow and strong lighting, but don't need any feeding other than light. If you do take any, I suggest putting the rock by itself in the sand so the gorgonian doesn't have a chance to grow onto nearby rocks.

Let me know if you would like any for free. I can give you pictures of the rocks if you want.

Here are some pictures of them from a while back to show you what they look like when fully open. I'll get some pictures of the actual rocks in a bit.

Ok, here are pictures of the actual rocks. Let me know what ones you want. It looks like there are 6 rocks of them (one is very large, 2 are medium sized, and 3 are pretty small). They aren't fully open since I was moving them around right before I took the pictures, and I haven't had my MH lights on.
The one on the very right below the zoos is the one I'll keep in my tank (as you can see, there are scrape marks as they didn't come off as easily as I thought they would).

Dark, try soaking them in heavy kalk water, they will die off.

Really? Will it kill any inverts in it? If I don't get rid of them all, I might have to try that.

Hi Dark - I'd love to have #2 if no one else has spoken for it.

Sounds good. I can bring it to you when I give you the money for the group invert buy.

swish it around real good before you remove the rock to treat it. The rock will turn white as the coraline dies off but the rock will still be "live"

Dang I wish I knew that trick before I encased a rock covered in GSP with Reef Epoxy. It actually worked out nicely as I was able to plant Zoanthids on it and later easily frag them by pealing the epoxy off.
