Hi all. I have captured two Mantis Shrimp from my TBS live rock, and would like to find a nice home for them. One is slightly over an inch long and is a light reddish-brown. Here are two pix -- sorry they're not very good, but I haven't had enough time to sit and catch him out of his PVC home this week!
The other is somewhat smaller and is more bluish in color. I don't have a good pic of him, but he's more attractive than the brown one, but is so fast that I haven't gotten a good pic yet. They're both 'smashers' who were caught stalking my smaller fish or crushing some of my reef cleaning crew, so they've been removed to a 5-gallon QT until I can find a home for them.
I've also extracted a crab that will be going bye-bye soon unless someone wants him. He's about an inch or so across, and was extracted after repeatedly pushing over various small rock pieces on to a fragile coral. Here's a pic:
Finally, I'm starting to have a spiny sea urchin problem. I really like the way these things look in my tank (see my tank website at Glory Hill for more pix. I've started extracting the largest of the urchins into the 'bad boy' tank as I've noticed them spending too much time around sensitive corals or when they've started shifting things around too much. The largest is just over the size of a golf ball, and I have about 6 that I want to get out immediately. Here's a pic of the recently captured large one:
If you are interested in my 'bad boy' crew, please let me know ASAP at hal_stanley@hotmail.com
Cheers,
hal
