I am thrilled to have been selected as one of the finalists! There are some very sweet nano tanks out there. Here are the specifications of my nano.

Intro:
When I was designing this tank I planned to keep a variety of corals except SPS. I tried to take advantage of the small size of this tank by adding pieces that could be better appreciated in a small tank. I was lucky enough to hand-pick everything thing for this tank (corals, fish, rock, inverts, ect.).

Tank:
The tank is a 10 gallon AGA 20"L x 10"W x 12"H. I had a custom black open top canopy built for the tank and painted the back black.

Lighting:
Lighting is a Current USA 20" Single Satellite fixture.

Filtration and Flow:
Filtration and flow is provided by a Whisper 10 Power Filter, a surface skimmer, and an Elite Mini Submersible Filter (58 GPH).

Temperature:
The temperature is controlled by a 50W Titanium Heater.

Water:
Water is made with RO/DI and Reef Crystals and is topped off with RO/DI mixed with a small amount of Reef Builder.

Fish:
The only fish are 2 no stripe or naked occ. clownfish

Inverts:
The inverts or clean up crew consist of 1 fire shrimp, 1 turbo snail, 1 margarita snail, 2 red leg hermits, 2 blue leg hermits, 1 derasa clam, and 1 zebra hermit.

Corals:
Corals include:

-Orange, green, and blue blastos
-Rob's watermelon palys
-Joker palys
-Tyree neon green toadstool
-blue ricordia
-orange ricordia
-pink zoas
-neon green centered candy cane

-UFO alien palys
-Kalidescope cloves
-Eagle eye zoas
-ATL golden cloves
-Green and purple short tentacle plate

-HUGE neon green ricordia
-dragon eye zoas
-pink and green ricordia
-purple and green blastos
-pink and purple feather duster
-tubs' blue zoas
-ATL watermelon chalice
-gold ricordia

Thanks for your time and votes! :D

i typed in the dimensions that you just posted and it says the tank is 16 gallons, but it doesn't matter because your tank is super nice.

The interior dimensions are 47.25x11x7.125
The sump/refugium (outside) dimensions are 36x5.25x7.125

Which makes the display 10.2017 gallons and the sump (which is 1/2 filled) is another 2.5 gallons.

Your tank is beautiful but how are you calculating volume? Using the RC calculator with the inside dimensions I get 19.2 not 10.2 gallons for the display.

MandM, on calvin415's nano, you have to subtract the volume of the sump/fuge from the total volume of the tank to get the exact volume of the main display.

They're all very nice looking tanks. Good work all of you. As for volume:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=(47.25*11*7.125)+cu+in+to+gallons

Thats not all the math you need to do, please subtract volume you get for the sump. The sump/refugium (outside) dimensions are 36x5.25x7.125 Then add the sump back in after removing 1/2" for acrylic thickness and only 1/2 filled...

If you do the math (or I'll do it for you) the interior dimensions are 47.25x11x7.125=16.03125 gallons (don't forget to subtract 3/4" from each dimension for acrylic) The sump/refugium (outside) dimensions are 36x5.25x7.125=5.829545454 gallons

So that makes:
Display area = 16.03125-5.82954=10.2017 gallons and the Sump = 2.518939 gallons (35x4.75x3.5 minus acrylic width of 3/8 and 1/8 black and only half filled) for a grand total of 12.720639 gallons

I'm sure that is the first time anyone has said THAT!!
;)

nice tank.

Man those are some sweet nanos, I love the intensely red trachy, I might have to break out my old acrylic 20 and get it going again, you guys have some cool ideas here!
Chris

I love looking at all your nano tanks. I see you have some hammer corals Eric. They won't sting or hurt the other corals? I would love to have one in my 40 breeder, but thought ti might overgrow it and sting my other corals. I love the Blue Wall Hammers. They are mesmerizing.

Hey MarineGirl! They can sting some corals while others seem to be fine. I've got 3 Euphyllia corals, the Hammer, Torch, and Frogspawn. The Hammer and Frogspawn are pretty much by themselves but the torch sits over a candy cane and zoo's. I notice this morning that the candy cane was looking pretty beat up so I reloated it but the zoo's seemed to be just fine. If you get a branching species of Euphyllia then as it grows you can just frag it and keep it under control. :) They are one of my favorite LPS families.

Love the new Shrimp Calvin

Izzue

Thanks Izzue, I've actually had him a while but just now took the time to get a decent shot. :D

I had the chance to see Eric's nano in person this weekend and the pictures just don't do the tank justice. It is beautiful and impressive. There is a little of everything packed in there and the colors are amazing.

I want one for my living room....

:-)

My vote's for you Eric. Love your harlequin shrimp too.

congrats to all nominated nano tanks! all of you should be proud of your mini reefs.

it was tough to vote on just one tank, but i gave my vote to Calvin's custom tank. outstanding job and a very well-designed system--i especially love the harlequins.
