i was thinking about treating my main tank with hypo salinity. my flame angel has ich outbreak. whats the best method. i was thinking about hypo and garlic extreme, or RX-P, is rx-p safe for reef. anyway, i have only two sps. montipora and acropora and two lps, green star polyps and xenia. anyway, is hypo safe in reef. i mean corals? i have two shrimp and starfish. my tank is 75 gallon. my fishes are mandarin goby, foxface, flame angel, 3 anthias. pls. help. i dont want to take my flame angel because i already have fish in my extra 10 gallon tank. also, how do u use garlic extreme? do you add to the food or can i also put it in the tank? thank you

A dip might help some, but the hospital tank seems to be the best approach. Hyposalinity will kill a lot of invertebrates, if the tank has live rock. Copper is worse.

There is an excellent thread on treating Ich on the fish disease forum. I had Ich in my tank and choose to remove all of my fish and treat them in QT with the hypo method. I left my tank go 7 weeks with no fish. I have added my two spot goby, clown and six-line wrasse and will be placing my lawnmower blenny and foxface in later this week.

I have heard that some people have had success treating their main tanks; however, I chose the method that pretty much garauntees the ich will be eliminated.

freshwater dips... about 5 - 10 minutes per day for 7 days or untill ich falls off... heard this works great, never tried it myself.
