Plumbing a chiller question?

I have a 180gal and have corner over flows. I have thie plumbed into sump. Out of the sump I wanted to run iwaki external 1200gph. Then go from outlet of iwaki to chiller then out of chiller to returns. Ok questions are with all the plumbing and 90 elbows and going through chiller with 3 ft head room will 1200 gph be enough. If not suggestions would be great. Really need some expert help here before I waste money and I dont want to hurt any live stock.

you want more flow than you need rather than less. You could "ice up" inside the chiller if the flow is to slow.

What chiller is it? They usually have a flow rate on them. Personally, on a large tank, I have a separate pump to feed the chiller from the sump and return to the sump and let my return and closed loop or Tunzes(or both) do the work of circulation.

I was thinking the same. Its a aqualogic 1/3. It max is 1200. I was thinking a nag pump in sump to chiller then chiller to sump and let my iwaki return to tank. how does this sound?

Sounds good to me. This also makes it easy to remove your chiller for cleaning or repair if necessary. I would go with any pump that pushes 1000-1200gph. I like the reliability of magdrive pumps, but they run pretty hot, so I think I would look at Eheim or something.
