Plumbing a dart

I'm plumbing a reeflo dart for my return pump. My question is on the outlet side. It is 1 1/2". I'm gonna run it about 9 feet so where do I downsize it? And do I just go down to 1" or 3/4". The return runs over the back and top of the tank so I am not limited on size by s drilled bulkhead. Also the return is just gonna be on one side of a 7 foot tank so should I split it and run 2 outlets on that end or just 1. Thanks

Run it as far as you can at 1.5" and then drop it down. The earlier you drop it down the more GPH you'll lose.

I ran 1.5" up the back of the tank and then a 1" Tee to the outputs into the tank. That was after I tried it the other way and lost all the pressure.

Can you just run it 1.5 the entire way? I have a Red Dragon pump which also uses 1.5in for the return line. I used 1.5 for the first foot then before the first 90 all the way to my tank it's 2in. On my 10ft tank I use only 1 return at one end of the tank, on the opposite end is the overflow box.

T'ing off the return will just half the flow thus making the pressure at the end of the pipe less. I wanted more flow so I did not T it off. I am debating on adding a ocean motions 4 way, awesome product!

Going smaller will reduce flow like mentioned above.

Thanks guys that is a big help. Viggen I am in a similar boat. I have a peninsula so the return is going up one side and across the length of the tank to shoot back towards the overflow on the other end. I will run 1.5 " the whole way and then down to 1 " right at the end. And I will only go with one return. How about a wavy sea? Also thinking of using an eductor. Any thoughts?

Why reduce it to 1 in? Curious why you have to reduce the size at the end

Zero experience with wavy sea..... I believe the eductor's need a head high rated pump?
