Plumbing a megaflow overflow question

I have a megaflow overflow and am having problems plumbing the drain with PVC. I have not been able to find a connector to fit the provided bulkhead. I've connected 1" and 1 1/4" Flex PVC to the bulkhead and both have leaked (Note, Flex PVC does not screw on). I attributed it to the fact that they do not go up all the way over the bulkhead fitting. I used 1 1/2" Flex PVC and this fit snugly over the bulkhead and solved the leaking problem. My real problem is that I want to use PVC. PVC will allow me to connect a Tee and a ball valve to diver some of the water to another area within the sump. AGA recommends using flex tubing on the returns. Has anyone connected PVC to the megaflow drain and if so, how?

Are you trying to attach to the male threads on the bulkhead? Those aren't pipe threads, and are for the locknut only. The bulkheads that came with my megaflow kit were double slip, and the big one accepts a 1" pvc pipe, the small one a 3/4" pvc pipe, both must be glued in. I'd glue in a short length of pipe with a MPT adapter, then upsie to 1-1/4 or 1 - 1/2 drain pipe from there. The small bottle neck thru the bulkhead won't impair flow as much as one might think.

Glue it in? What happens if you need to remove it. Personally, I wouldn't glue the pipe to the bulkhead there.

Yes, the bulkhead has a barbed fitting. Chrsnwk, I'm sure we have the same set but I wouldn't want to glue mine as that would be a nightmare. I'm wondering if there are other ways. My assumption is that I must be able to buy a bulkhead that is threaded that would allow me to tape and connect a female adapter to.

I didn't want to glue mine either, but it's the only option with those particualr bulkheads. There are double threaded bulkheads you can buy that will reoplace those, but then you have to adapt the thread in the overflow to a slip fitting for the standpipe to go in. I haven't seen a bulkhead fitting yet that is threaded on the dry side, and slip on wet side. good luck finding them though, and if you do, let me know where. If you read the instructions that came with your mega flow standpipe kit, I *think* it tells you to glue the hose barbs in.

Good Luck!
