Plumbing my 125g

You will want to get them just past hand tight. Just make sure you keep an eye on them when filling the tank.

Thanks Dubbin,
Gonna get the garden hose out here shortly....:D

Think I will finish cooking my Base Rock in the tank, that way i can start aquascaping, and playing around with it, just to have something to do, while i wait!

I'll cover it with a blanket to keep the algae growth down, and start planning my sump, and how to get this thing plumbed...

What is the point in pointing the street elbow down into the water?

Can I just put a screen over both bulkheads, and forego the overflow box??

Just wondered about the pros/cons of having the overflow box...

Thanks!

Elbow down is for the durso-- which will also need an elevated stand pipe at a tee on the outside of the tank ans some way to control air entry-- this will quiet down your flow noise (reduce the dreaded slurping sound)

You could but the noise would be louder and your water level would be visible-- you could prabably turn an elbow up and run slow flow without problems or significant noise.

con-- its visible in your tank

pro-- skims your water surface helping in oxygenation, pulling off surface scum, helping your skimmer run a little better

My trim came off easy-- I cut the remaining caulk off the glass-- it actually started coming off when I bought it off pufferboy last summer-- I lifted with it :o.. also mine was in 2 pieces (left and right)

you might need to cut it at one place (with a hack saw) so you have a starting place-- caulk is quite strong if given enough surface area-- if you cut it and can bend the rim a little as you lift, it should come off easier you will break the caulk bonds over smaller surface areas-- maybe cut as you lift.

$30 now.... :mad2:

Thanks everyone for the tips! I thought about cutting it off with the dremel, but was scared of hitting the glass....a hacksaw...hmmm. I have one, good idea!!:)

Tomorrow's project! Getting the trim off my tank!!

Still need to work on overflow box, and sump...

Hey Dubbin....did you create any pvc tunnels for your eel, or just elevate your rock with pvc??

Trying to decide if I want to elevate, or just create a little maze for him...am a little concerned with pressure points if I elevate it....see any possible problems with that??

I just elevated the rock with PVC. It was easy in the cube since the main rock is one big piece.

I wouldn't do that unless you plan on draining the tank to clean it once its done cooking.
