Anyone out there have any pictures of how they plumbed their dual overflow tanks. I am thinking about getting a Oceans Motions 2 way and wondering how to set it up, and what kind of pump to use. I bought a 125 all-glass Mega flow with dual overflows and dual returns. is the 2 way the way to go?

I am setting up a sump. But I am not sure how to set it up, or how powerful of a return pump to use. the tank says it is capable of 2400 gph but I am not sure if I want that much flow

I would say at a minimum use a Mag12 for the return upto a Dart.

The 4way is more expensive than the super squirt or 2-way but it'll be worth the money if you ever want to increase random flow in your tank.

Don't waste your money on the 2 way, it's nothing but a Squirt that has 2 holes plugged up and a different drum. At least get a Squirt and it's $15 cheaper than the 2way.

U have a pretty big tank the 2 way isn't gonna cut it.

BTW: a Dart is a Sequence pump. Roughtly 2kgph and is quiet and efficient.

I'd go with a closed loop. It'll create more movement in your tank for your softies and will also help keep detritus build up off your SPS. Then you can go with a smaller pump for your return.

So if I setup a closed loop with a 4 way OM, I could utilize my 2 predrilled return holes and run the other 2 over the top. The next question would be, Is there a skimmer out there that I could run in that loop?

From what I figure you're not really running what I think is a "true" closed loop. You'll pull water out of your sump and return 2 back through the overflow returns to your tank and another 2 over the top directly into your tank.

Doing that you'll have to make sure the amount of water that returns to your tank is less than or equal to the amount that drains. If the amount returned is more than your drains can handle you'll have a flood on your hands (or dry sump). So this will limit you to the amount of water you can pump. I probably wouldn't feel comfortable doing this but I know people do.

You can run a skimmer off your return line if you just place a T and include a barbed fitting or whatever is necessary. If you place a valve on the T to your skimmer make sure that when you closed that off that you don't flood your tank.
I would recommend running the OM as a "true" closed loop (draw and return water directly into the tank) and run a smaller return pump.

Closed loop required you to drill the tank for the intake. You can hook up you OM to your return pump and that shouldn't cause any problem. If you return pump is stronger than your overflow can handle than you will have flood and that would happen with or without the OM.

If you are getting a 4 ways than you should use it a closed loop. The reason for that is the 4 ways can handle a lot of flow. Your two overflow can only handle about 1200GPH. An OM Super Squirt would be good enough if you want to hook it up the return pump. If you are not comfortable doing the plumbing, I suggest you to stick with the powerheads.

It's not hard to setup closed loop but you will need a lot of room in the back. 1.5"-2" pipe is bigger than you think.

Elite, I bought an "All-glass Reef ready 125 g" Tank, so it is predrilled with 2 over flows and 2 return holes so I need to put something on the holes. I would also like to set up a refugium and have a place to hide my skimmer and heater, which is why I thought about running a sump, but now I am wondering what would be better.
