I just bought a 5 stage ro/di unit but its supposed to be installed with a air gap countertop faucet. I would rather not put a hole in the counter. Iif the unit is mounted higher than the gravity drain can I just use the faucet unmounted as a supply valve? please call if you can help. Thanx Scott 718-1117

Don't know your setup. In my case, it is hooked up to our kitchen sink and before I tied in to a separate airgap, the dishwasher would burp water all over the counter as it was forced up the RODI waste drain and out the airhole. Had to go with the airgap.

If this is tied into your kitchen getup in any way, I'd be nervous your dishwasher or garbage disposal would eventually give you backwash if you don't do the airgap tie-in.

Yeah man do it! Do it man! Do it!

I'm a DIY freak. Come what may. I would rather experiment and mess things up, I MEAN MESS THINGS UP, many times over and KNOW what is going on than turn it over to somebody else and be lost.

But I pay a 'dude' to do my taxes even though I'm a "money dude". Go figure.
