plumbing skimmer to tank outlet

Can any in sump skimmer be plumbed to the tank overflow or is their a special kind? I have an ASM g2 and wanted to find out if I can plumb my tank over flow directly to my skimmer pump?

you can't plumb it right into the pump as far as i know. What you need to do is convert it to a recirculating skimmer by drilling a hole and using a uniseal to move the pump input to the inside of the skimmer body. They you drill another hole toward the top and pipe that to your overflow. Youll need to tee off your main overflow and add a ball valve to control the flow through the skimmer. I did it on my G3, works great. feel free to ask more questions if i didn't make sense. If you go to www.asmskimmer.com they show you how to do it.
