Plumbing to Basementf

OK im asking in this forum because i think a large portion of the people in this forum probally are plumbed into their basement.

Ok we our having our house built now, infact its almost done.. The area i was planning on having my fuge and sump is now occupied by the water heater, and furnace which i was told was going to be in a different place.

So here is my problem.. What problems would i run into if i had the return water pumped up to the basement ceiling, run across the ceiling for almost 16 feet, then through the living room floor and up into the tank?

I know the main cause of head loss is going vertical.. but im wondering if going horizontal for 16 feet would cause any problems.

My setup is similar. From the basement I have to go up 8-9 feet, over 12-13 feet, then up another 6 feet on the first floor to get to the top of the tank. I have a Sequence 4300 plumbed with inch and a half spa-flex hose with no elbows or anything to impede flow along the way, just a union, ball valve, and check valve on the pump end and various splitters on the tank side of things. It’s been running for over a year this way with no problems and excellent flow.

And the head loss just means I would need a stronger return pump right?

Ill probally start a thread about this later but can anyone recommend a pump for that? Im guessing around maybe 12-14' the water will have to go up and like i said around 16' horizontal.

The tank will be a 265 gallon

I use a Sequence Barracuda. If you call Sequence they wull be very helpful. Basically what he told me is that if you run 11/2 inch your horizontal loss will be almost nothing untill you get to longer lengths. I have to throtle back my return, and the Sequence pumps will run less energy if turned down.

I have something just like what you are asking about. I go from the basement floor (13 course basement) up to the ceiling and then travel about 40' Horizontally and then up another 6'. I use a Sequence Hammerhead and have it split to run a Large GEO skimmer, GEO Media Reactor, Recirc in the Sump, and have it plumbed for my Calcium reactor that will be added this month.
