Could someone tell me how to plumb a glass tank to incorporate a sump? My idea was to drill a hole towards the top for water to flow into, then have it dump into the sump. By my reasoning, the water in the tank can only get so full, then just have no other choice but to fall into the hole and down into the sump, where I will have an internal pump ready to send it right back. I'm looking at having a system that will do about 150 gallons per hour. This is just a trial to make a ten gallon tank with a ten gallon sump (hey, they're only ten bucks, so who cares if i mess it up!) then use what i've learned to do the same with a bigger tank. What I need to know is:
-how to drill the tank
-what type of pieces to use (vinyl...pvc??)
-if this idea makes sense at all, or if it sounds like a disaster in the making.

look at melevsreef.com, he has some explanations. overall you are correct. But the true test is to see what happens when all the electricty shuts down and all the pumps fail, where does the water flow? answer: you need a lot of extra room in the sump.
i got the diamond bits off ebay. there are other places in the US too. then you need some bulkheads. Try aquacave.com, a sponsor here.
